A coherence-based approach to nervous system regulation
Presence Therapy is a quiet, gentle way of working with the nervous system through stillness, coherence, and sustained, regulated presence.
It is for people who feel tired of effort, analysis, fixing and who are drawn instead to slowing down, softening and listening inwardly. Many people arrive feeling mentally busy or emotionally overloaded, calm on the surface but holding tension beneath or simply disconnected from themselves in a way they can’t quite name.
This work meets the system where it is, without trying to change or push it.
Each session begins with verbal guidance into a state of deep relaxation. This guidance allows the nervous system to gradually settle out of habitual alertness or stress, creating a sense of safety and ease in the body. When the system feels safe enough, it naturally loosens its grip and no longer needs to stay on guard.
From this place, attention is gently invited into the heart and body, supporting coherence; a state in which the nervous system becomes more synchronised and regulated. Nothing is forced and nothing is required. The body is simply given the conditions it needs to return to balance in its own time.
As the session deepens, the guidance fades and the work moves into extended silence. During this time, regulation continues through stillness, attuned presence and nervous system resonance. You may rest, drift or fall asleep. Silence is not empty here, it is an active part as I hold a field of coherence.
Presence Therapy supports the nervous system to come out of prolonged activation and into a state of greater calm and stability. People often experience a deep sense of settling, a quieting of mental noise and a feeling of coming home to themselves.
Over time, this can support emotional regulation, recovery from chronic stress or burnout, clearer inner perception, and a greater capacity to meet life without feeling overwhelmed. Life and spiritual insight may arise, but it is not chased. It tends to emerge naturally once the system has softened enough to hear itself.
It is very common to feel deeply relaxed or tired after a session. This is a natural response when the nervous system releases long-held tension and shifts into a more restorative state.
Rest, sleep and quiet time help the body integrate this work so it is strongly recommended that you allow space after your session rather than returning immediately to work or busy environments. Presence Therapy works in harmony with the body’s rhythms and rest is part of the healing process.
This work tends to resonate with people who are drawn to depth without intensity, who value stillness over stimulation, and who feel ready to slow down rather than push forward. It may be particularly supportive if you are in a period of transition, integration or quiet re-orientation.
If you are looking for highly structured, directive, or problem-solving approaches, another form of support may be more suitable at this time.
My work is informed by hypnotherapy, nervous system regulation, and coherence-based practices, including heart-centred awareness and subtle energy work, Reiki and Seichem. Sessions are experienced primarily through presence and silence rather than dialogue or technique.
This is subtle work. Its depth comes from simplicity, safety, and the space to be rather than do.
